Assembly members Dave Rible and Mary Pat Angelini released the following statement today regarding the passage of the health care reform bill:

“This is a historic occasion for our nation for all of the wrong reasons,” said Rible. “The creation of this massive government entitlement program will be funded by hundreds of billions of dollars worth of new taxes and fees on both individuals and employers.”

“At a time when we need to reign in the out-of-control cost of government, this bill dramatically increases spending, adds to our deficit and will saddle future generations with crushing debt,” said Angelini. “While I agree with the intent of providing increased access to health care, this bloated attempt at reform will increase premiums, devastate many small businesses and could result in millions of Americans losing their current health care coverage.

“Put simply, this is the wrong bill at the wrong time,” she added.
